Letter sent to Largo Mayor and Commissioners regarding Largo recreation center refitMy name is Debra Bogina and I am a taxpayer here in the community, a community I am proud of. I read a article recently that we are spending roughly 2 million dollars to refit the Largo Rec Center. I do not think this is appropriate with the issues of rising taxes to its residents. I think the money should be used for schools and the Fire Department. The Rec Center doesn't generate enough revenues to warrant the refit. This is wrong to spend this money when more important issues are at hand. Even spending money to redue the clock is wrong. Removing the clock and putting down the cobblestone with a barrier to prevent skateboards would be a better use of money then spending all that money to refit a clock. I conducted a survey and at least 60 percent of people don’t use or notice that it is there. Again, this money could be used in a better fashion instead of raising taxes of residents whose property value are less that what they were the year before. The cost of living goes up, people’s salaries don’t rise, but the taxes the community raises do. Debbie Bogina, resident taxpayer
