
Clearwater’s Wesley Sever to Compete in International Soccer Tournament as Part of U.S. Disney All-Star TeamCLEARWATER – Wesley Sever is among 18 of America’s best youth soccer players traveling to England for Chelsea Football Club’s inaugural youth cup August 22-25. Sever is a member of Disney’s Soccer Showcase All-Star Team that will represent the U.S. in this international competition. The Chelsea international tournament features teams from Argentina, England, Germany, Holland, Korea, Lebanon, Russia and the United States. "It is very exciting to be a part of the inaugural All-Star team that will represent Disney and the United States,” said Rusty Scarborough, Greensboro resident and coach of Disney’s Soccer Showcase All-Stars. “The group of players selected is some of the best young American talent that participated at Disney’s Soccer Showcase. Our players will challenge themselves as they compete against top youth teams from around the world including Chelsea’s world-class Academy. We're looking forward to representing the U.S. in this inaugural Chelsea international tournament in England." Sever was selected based on his performances at Disney’s Soccer Showcase that takes place at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in December. Regarded as the premier youth soccer tournament in the U.S., the showcase features the nation’s top prep soccer players and attracts college coaches from the nation’s most prestigious programs, making the showcase the No. 1 recruiting tournament in the country. Sever attends Tampa Prep High School and plays for club team Clearwater Chargers.
