What's Happening in Largo

Photos/text by Sandi Fahy

A fundraiser for the Largo High School football program found the above pictured players and cheerleaders greeting the public at the Publix Super Market on Ulmerton Road on August 9. Pictured (front l-r) are wide receiver Brandon Byrd, cheerleader Hannah Granger, linebacker Dylan Rubino, defensive end Lucas Kelly, cheerleader Lauren Rippeto, assistant coach Rich Rippeto, (back l-r) left guard Ryan McFarland, offensive lineman Austin Mai, tight end/defensive end Mike Douglas and defensive lineman Taylor Montgomery. The Packers had a 13-1 record last year. Persons who would like to help support the team through a donation should call Coach Rippeto at (727) 902-1437.

This summer they have fed the homeless, visited nursing and retirement homes, handed out bottles of water on the beach and taken part in a prayer walk. Last Saturday, the group from Real Life Christian Church offered to wash cars for free at the gas station on the corner of Missouri Ave. and East Bay Drive as part of their continuing commitment to community service.
