
Moffitt Cancer Center Stands Up To Cancer Sept. 5TAMPA – Moffitt Cancer Center will Stand Up To Cancer Sept. 5 with a free educational event and public screening of the nationally televised show from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Vincent A. Stabile Research Building. Patients, their families and the public are invited to hear the latest information on cancer prevention and research by some of the nation’s leading specialists. Lectures will focus on topics such as cancer research, lung cancer, women’s oncology and nutrition. Those attending will be able to seek the expert advice of Moffitt’s top researchers and doctors including Thomas Sellers, Ph.D.; Johnathan Lancaster, M.D., Ph.D.; Kathy Allen, M.A., R.D.; and Charles Williams, M.D. Each lecture will last approximately 30 minutes with the first lecture beginning at 6:45 p.m. A public screening of the show will begin at 8 p.m. in the Ted & Marty Couch Auditorium. Stand Up To Cancer, a new initiative to raise philanthropic dollars for accelerating ground-breaking research, unites the major television networks, entertainment industry executives, celebrities and prominent leaders in cancer research and patient advocacy. ABC, CBS and NBC will donate one hour of simultaneous commercial-free primetime for the fundraising event, aimed at rallying the public around the goal of ending cancer’s reign as a leading cause of death.
