Largo Fire Rescue Selects a Billboard Contest Winner

LARGO – Nine-year-old Matthew Hirschberger's art will soon be on display for all of Largo to see. Matthew a fourth grade student at Saint Paul's School, has been selected as the winner of the 2008 Largo Fire Rescue Poster Billboard Contest for fire safety. The artwork, created to the theme “It’s Fire Prevention Week: Prevent Home Fires!”, will be transformed into a full-size billboard, courtesy of Clear Channel Outdoor. Matthew's drawing was chosen as the winner from hundreds of entries and 22 different schools.

On Wednesday, October 1st, in honor of Fire Prevention Week “October 5th-11th“ Largo Fire Rescue visited Saint Paul's School at 1600 St. Paul's Drive Clearwater, to award the top three contest winners.

Matthew joined Mayor Pat Gerard in the ladder truck and was brought up to sign his masterpiece at Largo Fire Station 38 at 7630 Ulmerton Rd.

Matthew will also be recognized at the City of Largo's commission meeting on Tuesday, October 7th.
