Alpha Chi Omega of Upper Pinellas To Host Founders' Day Celebration

CLEARWATER - Eta Sigma Eta Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega of Upper Pinellas will be hosting its annual Founders' Day celebration at Belleair Country Club on October 11. Members of the St. Petersburg and Tampa alumnae chapters will be taking part in the event. All Alpha Chis living or visiting in the area are invited to attend.

Guest speaker and honored guest will be National Panhellenic Conference chairman Julie Cain Burkhard, a past national president of Alpha Chi Omega. Burkhard, who served on Alpha Chi's board of directors for 10 years (the final four as national president and chief elected officer), holds B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Georgia. She has worked in the field of education for 28 years. The University of Georgia, University of Virgina and University of South Florida have been among her employers.

Burkhard's volunteer service with Alpha Chi Omega over the years has included stints as national vice president, trustee of the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation, president of the Alpha Chi Omega National Housing Corporation, province president, director of new chapter development, director of rush and chapter advisor. She has served on the National Panhellenic Conference executive board since 2003. Her current position as chairman began in October 2007 and will run until October 2009. Burkhard and her husband, Don, reside in Athens, Ga. They have two chiildren--Elizabeth, 23, an Alpha Chi who lives in Washington, D.C., and Katharine, 19, of Tampa, who is a member of Alpha Phi.

The Founders' Day celebration will get under way with a boutique at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch at 11 a.m. Deadline for reservations is October 6. Alpha Chis who would like to attend may call 733-2877 for more information.
