Local Man Receives High Honor
(l-r) Claudine Frasch, Dan Frasch and Major A.J. Frasch. Don Frasch of Hudson, Florida was promoted to the position of Commodore and elected, by a unanimous vote of his peers, to be the new leader of United States Coast Guard Auxiliary District 7. The Auxiliarists and families that were gathered in the standing-room only ballroom at the hotel in Jacksonville, Florida, erupted in a standing ovation to the announcement. Frasch will be the senior officer of the 5,700 member organization that stretches from the North-South Carolina border south to the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. He will be responsible for overseeing the Auxiliary efforts in promoting boating safety, the various public education programs, on-the-water-patrols, and Auxiliary involvement in community affairs. Commodore Frasch will also be responsible for frequent coordination with multiple local, state and federal agencies involved in maritime safety and homeland and port security. With his wife of 46 years, Sandy, by his side, the silver shoulder boards bearing the one star of his new office were placed on his shoulders by his daughter, Claudine Frasch of San Francisco, California, and his son, Major A.J. Frasch, US Air Force currently based at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. His daughter, Allison Murray, of Baltimore, Maryland, was not able to attend the promotion ceremonies but was definitely there in spirit.
