Junior League of Clearwater – Dunedin Donates to Area Foster Children

CLEARWATER - The Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin (JLCD) is continuing to make dreams come true for foster children in Pinellas and Pasco Counties. On Sunday, September 28th, over 60 young ladies descended upon the League's upscale thrift store, The Scot Shop, to choose a formal dress, shoes and accessories for their upcoming homecomings, holiday formals and prom 2009. This 'Princess for a Day' event was also held in May of this year and outfitted nearly 75 young ladies with formal dresses as well as 17 young men with tuxedos for prom.

On October 13th, JLCD will be collecting Halloween costumes, treat buckets or bags, and Halloween goodies at the monthly General Membership meeting. These items will be used at events planned to benefit foster children and families. On Saturday, October 11th at Great Explorations and Saturday, October 18th at the Clothes to Kids', Inc, annual “Jacket-O-Lantern” event, JLCD will also be hard at work making the holidays a fun occasion for even more children in the foster system. If you would like to donate items, gift cards or make a monetary donation for these events, please contact Community ANGELS Chair, Diane Manuel, at dianepilkington@hotmail.com or the JLCD office at 727-738-5523.
