Clock Tower Eagle Scout tile work – Letter sent to Largo Mayor and Commissioners

At the last meeting’s discussion, the board made several suggestions to save the tile work by relocating the columns. I have a few ideas that may be helpful.

 1) Leave the columns in place without the clock. Lower the roof structure to the top of the columns and place benches on the SW & NE side. It makes a nice place to sit and will leave the walkway open to the park.

  2) If you elect to relocate the columns it would be most cost effective to move them within the scope of the new work (within the reach of the crane). This way there is no cost for transporting or the need for a second crane to erect it in a new location.  If any tile becomes loose or falls off during the relocation it can be saved, and replaced. The columns can then be cleaned.

We will be happy to work with the general contractor and facilities management to make this endeavor a success.

Your continued support to save this monument is a great inspiration to our young scouts and the news will certainly be welcomed with the West Central Florida Council.
