We Can with Our Own Two Feet!Feed the Hungry and Nourish the SoulOn October 11 and 12 area churches in Clearwater and Largo will create labyrinths of donated canned goods to benefit the RCS Food Bank. For centuries, the faithful have used labyrinths as a place for prayer and meditation. While it resembles a maze, it has no blind alleys or dead ends. When you enter a labyrinth, you find only one-way to the center and one-way back out. The labyrinth’s turns and paths reflect the often-varied directions that we take in our lives of faith. On this special weekend, the course of these labyrinths will be lined with donated canned goods for the RCS Food Bank. The public is encouraged to donate food equivalent to the length of their own two feet. In addition, the labyrinth provides the opportunity to consider the plight of those less fortunate with greater focus, and to pray for the people of our community who depend on this ministry. Program creator Debra McMaster, hopes this wide-scale event will highlight the critical shortage of goods at the RCS Food Bank while increasing understanding of labyrinths as a spiritual tool. All are welcome to experience the Labyrinths:
