New and prospective members of the North Suncoast Associates, fundraising arm of The Florida Orchestra, gathered at the Belleair home of former presidents Jean and Mason Rascher on September 25. Among the invited guests were Lee and Jan Regulski, Edie Banks, Roberta Christenson and Pat Grubb of Clearwater; Joan Johansen of Largo; Henry and Margarite Dicus, Ethel Smith and Bonnie Williams of Dunedin. Board members attending the get-together were Ron and Dale Anderson, Martha Delano, Johanna Guzik, Bill Jonson, Lynn Lawton, Martha Robertson and Conrad Wieler. The first regular meeting of the season took place earlier this week at the Dunedin Fine Art Center. Orchestra special events manager Cynthia Long was guest speaker. Musical entertainment was provided by Andrea Overturf, who plays English horn with the orchestra. The group's first fundraiser, a barbecue, is coming up at Honeymoon Island State Park on Saturday, October 25. The Bay Area Saxophone Quartet will perform. Speaking of fundraisers, the Largo Woman's Club is hosting its first event for 2008-2009 at the Royal Palms of Largo on October 21. The Halloween Luncheon Card Party will feature door prizes and prizes for best costumes. Proceeds will benefit the club's charitable endeavors in the community. Call 581-3137 for details ...
