Fine Art Society Continues Tradition/Mission of Art Education

St. PETERSBURG - The Fine Art Society will continue its long tradition of art education with its November General Meeting on November 13, at the St. Petersburg Fine Art Museum.  Members of Fine Art Society and guests will meet at 10:45 a.m. for a guided tour of the exhibit “When Gold Blossoms: Indian Jewelry from the Susan L. Bennington Collection”, an awe-inspiring exhibit highlighting the technical craftsmanship of Indian Jewelry.

There will be more than 150 pieces on display dating from the 17th through the early 19th centuries. Included are examples of rings, anklets, earrings, hair pendants and jeweled crowns for women as well as for deities displaying gold, jewels, and enameling primarily from South India.

Members, guests, and general public are invited to join in this and future Fine Arts Society educational experiences.

Lunch will follow at the MFA Café, cost dependent on menu choice. Contact Claire Mattison at 727-446-0609 for more information and reservations.
