Greetings, everyone! The month of October marked the beginning of the many fall arts and crafts shows, fairs and festivals we all enjoy. The 4-H Apple Cook-Off is always a fun event. It is scheduled on November 1 at the Pinellas County Extension along with a 4-H Open House. The annual competition is open to both children and adults. Recipes must include at least one apple. Please be advised that preregistration is required. For details, contact Jean Rogalsky at 582-2597 ... Speaking of 4-H, the organization held its annual Awards & Recognition Banquet not long ago. Project medal winners were Angela Zazzaro, Micah Tonnesen, Emily Plaisance, Kristen Venable, Kaytlin Crim, Joanna Jenkins, Taylor Toms, Melissa Sharp, Matthew Witsey, Emily Vines, Cheyla Buck, Brianna Neal, Francesca Lerner, Brianna Mullins, Olivia Sipos, Brittany Poole, Emily Bangs, Michaela Polmann, Amy Kirchgraber, Rylee Twinam and Stephanie Tonnesen. Two 4-H groups--the Hearts and Hooves Saddles Club and 4-H2O--were recognized as "Clubs of the Year" for 2008. Kudos to all! ... The Pinellas Public Library Cooperative recently announced its new board of officers for 2008-2009. Irving DeToro will serve as chairman. Vice chair is Pushpa Venkatesh. Jeri Antozzi will assume the office of secretary/treasurer ... Did you know today is Patricia McHugh's birthday? Betsy Kettells, Enid Ireland, Susan Niedermeier, Kathleen Garrett, Shiela Ladd, Lois Harber and Bill Harrison are among those who share her October 30 birthdate ... Be sure to extend all best birthday wishes tomorrow to Penny Naja, Savanna Howard, Jeannette Scott, Marge Krueger, Rebecca Lorance, Robert Worner, Bill Barnes and Dave Burton ...
