LARGO - The Pinellas County Historical Village presented their 31st annual Country Jubilee at Heritage Village Saturday, October 25. The Jubilee is the Society's largest fundraiser of the year with all proceeds going to Heritage Village.

Shuttle bus service made it easy for guests to park at the county extension parking lot and enter the Village to join the crowd for the parade of historic homes, musical entertainment, antique flea market and book sale, antique car display, arts and craft booths, kid's activities and food.

Collectors flocked to the Heritage Village's own gift shop for collectibles and also bought handmade Americana, including quilts, needlework, paintings and wooden and woven treasures from 140 artisans and craftsmen vendors.

Volunteers gave traditional demonstrations in the smoke house, on sugar cane grinding and syrup making, palmetto thatching, weaving and spinning, including pine needle weaving, and rope making.

Heritage Village is a collection of historical structures ensconced throughout a lush pine landscape. It is Pinellas County's version of Henry Ford's Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan. As you walk through it, you experience the past and learn of the County's early culture and industries from their museum displays, period rooms, live demonstrations and educational programs. Heritage Village is located at 11909 125th St. North in Largo. For more information, go to:www.pinellascounty.org/heritage or phone (727)582-2123.

Fitting right in at Heritage Village was Gene Oswald of St. Petersburg. His hand carved walking sticks were among the finest pieces of Americana folk art for sale at the Country Jubilee Saturday
