Turley Family Health Offers Free Skin Cancer Screenings

If caught early, skin cancer is highly curable. To encourage earlier detection of skin cancer, Morton Plant Mease’s Turley Family Health Center in Clearwater is providing the community with free skin cancer screenings. Physicians and nurses will perform free, full-body screenings to detect suspicious areas of the skin that may be cancerous and require follow up medical care.

The screenings will be held Thursday, November 13 and November 20, 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Turley Family Health Center, 807 N. Myrtle Ave., Clearwater,

Please call (727) 462-7500 to schedule an appointment. Approximately 60 appointments are available.

Early detection of skin cancer is essential. Anyone with a changing, suspicious or unusual mole or blemish should be screened for skin cancer, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. More than one million new cases of skin cancer will be diagnosed in the United States this year.

In addition to free screenings, participants will receive free information about skin cancer prevention including which types of sunscreens, sunglasses and hats provide the best protection from the sun’s rays.
