Cleveland Street Streetscape Wins State Beautification AwardCLEARWATER – The Florida Redevelopment Association recently honored the City of Clearwater for its commitment to community improvement. Clearwater won the Best Capital Project/Beautification award for the Cleveland Street Streetscape. The Cleveland Street Streetscape project is helping the downtown thrive as a pedestrian-friendly urban retail corridor where residents can enjoy an inviting public environment with wide brick paver walkways, lighting, extensive infrastructure, utility improvements, landscaping and decorative medians with platforms for a public arts program. In turn, the beautification of this area is attracting new residents and business downtown while encouraging private investment. Each year, the Florida Redevelopment Association honors redevelopment leaders and community redevelopment agencies for exemplary redevelopment projects and programs in Florida. “We were pleased to accept this award that reflects the efforts of the City, the businesses and other partnerships that have helped make the streetscape a success,” said Economic Development Director Geri Campos Lopez. “Its beauty underscores the important role our downtown will play in the future of our city.” Founded in 1974, the Florida Redevelopment Association is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to assisting Florida professionals and volunteers revitalize their communities.
