Recs and ReadsBy Anne McKay GarrisWe may be winding down the year, but things are revving up at the Beach Library and Recreation Center. Bridge is already back for the winter months. Bridge time is from 1 to 4 p.m. on Mondays. Bring your friends, or come alone and find some friends who enjoy playing "the game." The Center provides the cards and other necessities. Line Dancing is so popular at its Thursday sessions from 10 to 11 a.m., that an additional session is planned to begin in January. This one will be from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. on Wednesdays. Come alone, or bring a friend to enjoy this excellent activity. It's easier to do than you might think and nobody criticizes or teases if you miss a step. It's also unlikely you will step on someone else's toes. For more sedentary entertainment, the Friends are thinking about a Book Discussion Group to start on Fridays in February. We would like to know what genre of book you are interested in. Would you prefer to discuss Florida Writers? History Books? Florida History? Science Fiction? What? Let us know by signing up on the sign-up sheet at the Beach Branch Library. This Christmas there seem to be more hints than ever about "how to survive this hectic season." There are also others on how to keep it from being hectic at all. So, may I add a note that a "light reading" book from the Beach Library will give both your mind and body respite from the "how can I do it all" blues. If the book is about the real meaning of Christmas, it might do even more for you.
