Belleview Biltmore Holds Last New Year's Gala Before ReconstructionCLEARWATER - On the last day of December for the past 111 years, the stately and historic Belleview Biltmore would ring in the New Year with parties and gala events in its ballrooms and luxurious restaurants. British royalty, heads of state, movie stars and professional athletes have all heralded the resort's distinctive charm during the holidays and throughout the year. With a fascinating history laced with social prominence and a remarkable revitalization, the Belleview Biltmore Resort holds a rightful position on the National Register of Historic Places. Next Wednesday will be mark year 112 and will be last for the Biltmore as we know it. In mid 2009, developers Legg Mason will embark upon a $125 million renovation of the historic property that will take approximately two years to complete. The hospitality and unparalleled elegance afforded guests over the years will be continued in a new and updated facility. Since purchasing the hotel in June, 2007, the new owners have worked tirelessly with the city council, staff, Belleair Country Club and the homeowner’s association to develop and a renovation plan that will continue the resort's history of being a world-class destination. But for now, the splendor of the elegant resort lives on as it has for the past century for one more festive holiday.
