 Volunteer Advocates Needed

The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program administered by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs is seeking volunteer advocates for residents living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities to investigate complaints concerning their rights on issues such as food, staffing, funds, medication, abuse and neglect. Volunteers are trained to assess these facilities for federal and state law compliance. Anyone with advocating and administrative abilities may apply. Retired individuals and couples are welcome.

Mileage and meal reimbursements are provided at the state rate for all official ombudsman duties. Call 727-588-6912 or 1-888-831-0404 to volunteer.
