Recs and ReadsBy Anne McKay GarrisMerry Christmas from the Friends of the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center and Library. Our Christmas gift to you is a 46-inch flat screen television and equipment to be used, in 2009, for programs, including Movies Beside The Bay and Wii games for young and old. Senior Citizens will enjoy the bowling, tennis, boxing and other games on Wii. The youngsters among us will enjoy taking their turn with the Wii. And the rest of us will soon be demanding a turn as we watch the fun and good exercise. The other programs, established this year, will continue in 2009. Make a resolution now to participate in the Writers Encouragement Group which meets on the first Wednesday of the month from 1 to 3 p.m., or the Book Talk on the second Wednesday from 1 to 11a.m., led by our former librarian, Linda Hamrell. The Book Talk in January will be about the books of the popular writer, Jan Karon. Bridge is already back on the schedule and the popular Line Dancing has been expanded to Wednesdays from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m.. If you are staying on the Beach as a motel or hotel guest, or a winter visitor, bring some indication of that with you and you are eligible for a guest membership in both the library and the recreation center. Stay tuned to this column, or drop by the center for information on how to participate in our variety of programs.
