It’s Girl Scout Cookie Time

TAMPA – Girl Scouts of West Central Florida (GSWCF) is pleased to announce the official start of the 2009 Girl Scout Cookie Program throughout its eight-county jurisdiction of Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Marion, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sumter counties.

Whether Thin Mints, Do-Si-Dos or Samoas are your favorite Girl Scout Cookie – the wait is finally over! Through late-March, thousands of Girl Scouts will be taking orders for your favorite Girl Scout Cookie varieties, including Thin Mints, Do-Si-Dos, Samoas®, Tagalongs®, Trefoils, Sugar Free Chocolate Chips, Lemon Chalet Cremes, and the new Dulce de Leche.

Through Friday, Jan. 30, Girl Scouts of West Central Florida will take pre-orders; those cookies will be delivered beginning Feb. 22.

Friday, Feb. 27 marks the start of booth sales, so keep an eye out at your favorite businesses and stores and take a box – or 12! – home with you. Booth sales end Sunday, March 22.

New in 2009, GSWCF is making it easier for you to find the cookie booth nearest you! Starting Monday, Feb. 23, the public can visit www.gswcf.org and search for a Girl Scout Cookie Booth by zip code using the cookie booth locater system. It’s now easier than ever to satisfy your Girl Scout Cookie cravings!

For those who want to support Girl Scouting in their communities but don’t want to enjoy the cookies themselves, GSWCF offers the Cookies From Home Program. This unique program is a way for Girl Scouts to give back to their communities: donations of cookies through the Cookies From Home Program will be sent directly to our military troops serving in combat zones overseas through a partnership with Support Our Troops. Donations to the Cookies From Home Program may be made in person through a Girl Scout, or online at www.gswcf.org at anytime during the Cookie Program, through March 22.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is not only the leading business and financial literacy program for girls, but 100 percent of the proceeds support Girl Scouting in our local communities with girls making decisions about how their troop proceeds will be spent. Through participation in the Girl Scout Cookie Program, girls learn the power of goal-setting, develop self-confidence and learn to work together toward a common goal.
