Pinellas Festival is a Folksy Affair

Photos/text by SANDI FAHY

Demonstrating the art of palm thatching at the 16th Annual Pinellas Folk Festival at Heritage Village in Largo on January 31 are (from left) Melissa Giddings, Greg Abbarno and Erin Fabrizio. All are junior docents at the 19th century village. The festival, which was sponsored by the Pinellas County Historical Society, featured traditional folk music as well as gospel, country and bluegrass. Storytelling, traditional crafts and living history activities were also part of the fun.

The blacksmithing demonstration by Steve Sheets, above, attracted many a person attending the Pinellas Folk Festival at Heritage Village last Saturday. Sheets has been volunteering his services at the event for the past seven years.
