See the Beaches “Then & Now” at IRB Historical Society Luncheon

Dramatic changes have occurred along our beaches over the years. Those changes will be highlighted in a slide-talk presentation by local author/historian Wayne Ayers on his latest book, Tampa Bay’s Beaches Then and Now.

Ayers will speak this Saturday, March 7, at the IRB Historical Society’s spring potluck luncheon, which starts at noon. All are welcome, members or not – just bring a dish to share. Plates, utensils and beverages are provided.

The presentation contrasts past and present scenes along our barrier islands. Included are such popular attractions as the Aquatarium, John’s Pass Village, the pier at Clearwater Beach, and familiar businesses like JD’s in Indian Rocks Beach which was once Moodies Drug.

A book signing will be held afterwards, which will include Wayne’s wife Nancy who took the “now” photos in the book. Proceeds from book sales benefit the museum.

The museum is located at 203 4th Avenue (across from the post office) in Indian Rocks Beach. Phone 517-8076 for more information.
