
2009 Shamrock'n RunThe City of Largo's annual Shamrock'n Run 5K takes off Friday, March 13th, at Ulmer Park, 301 West Bay Drive, from 7 to 10 p.m. The 2009 event promises to be better than ever! Entertainment will include live music from Buffalo Strange, a shamrock'n band who has been touring the state of Florida for six years. They'll have the audience dancing with their unique blend of rock, jazz, psychedelic, reggae and world rhythms that offers music for all ages. If you are not a runner, don't worry, you may participate in the 1.5 mile walk, or just come and enjoy the food, drinks, and music. Children are also invited to join in the Kids Fun Run. This St. Patty's Day themed event is Going Green this year with environmentally friendly activities. Information about Largo's recycling program will be on hand, and the first 250 registered runners/walkers will receive a free green reusable shopping bag. Participants are also encouraged to bring their old athletic shoes and donate them to the Nike's Reuse-A-Shoe program. The 5K begins at 7 p.m. and the 1.5 mile walk begins at 7:15 p.m., with registration opening up at 5:30 p.m. Be sure to save some green and pre-register by March 6th.
