GFWC Club fills Pressing Needs of Area Non-Profits

The GFWC Clearwater Community Woman's Club grant committee members Betsy Dort, Nancy Hughes, Martie Henderson, Ellie Lee, and Alice Thalhaimer have been flooded with grant applications from area non-profit organizations pleading for funds to help their organizations survive and thrive in today’s challenging economy. At the club’s 38th Daisy Luncheon and Fashion Show on Thursday, March 26th starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Harborview Center in downtown Clearwater, five grants will be awarded to the following deserving organizations: Clothes To Kids, Inc., Family Resources Inc., Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin, RCS Food Bank and UPARC Foundation.

The event will not only highlight the winners of the Daisy Grants but will the feature fabulous fashions by Stein Mart. Using the theme of this year’s show, Pretty Woman, Al Ruggiero and the Bunny Ott Dancers will put on a musical show. Show chair, Georgia Jensen, states that, even in light of the economy, area merchants have donated numerous items worth thousands of dollars, which attendees will have a chance to win during the event. Prizes include Disney Tickets, rounds of Golf at the Clearwater Country Club, vacations stays at Mill Creek Resort and Country Club in Franklin, North Carolina and the Sheraton Sand Key and many more.

Proceeds raised at the event will go towards the club’s Daisy Grant Funds.
