Concert to Benefit The Haven of RCS Domestic Violence Center A seven-piece orchestra of professional musicians will perform Vivaldi’s Four Seasons Sunday March 29th at 3 p.m. at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 245 Dory Passage, Clearwater (on Island Estates). After each movement, local meteorologists, Juli Marquez and Diane Kacmarik of Bay News 9, will read poetry appropriate to the particular season. Tickets are $20 and may be obtained by calling 727-443-5485 Monday-Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. DID YOU KNOW… Domestic violence affects 1 in 4 families in the United States. Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women 15-49 in our country, more than car accidents, rapes and muggings combined. Domestic violence cost American businesses $727million dollars annually. The Haven of RCS, state certified domestic violence center, served over 24,000 individuals last year through its multifaceted services, including an emergency safe shelter, community outreach program, transitional living program (TLP), and prevention education component.  Services include individual and group counseling for victims and children, legal advocacy, 911 telephones, safety planning, professional trainings, referral services, pre-school through high school education curriculum and delivery, relocation assistance and more. The emergency shelter has 34 beds where women and their children can stay for up to 45 days while receiving a plethora of supportive services; TLP has 11 multi-bedroom apartments welcoming survivors for up to two years of residency.  The diverse staff speaks multiple languages, including a number of Hispanic dialects, Serbian and Polish.
