Field Finalized for Largest AJGA Event of 2009
Mizuno Junior at Innisbrook brings 210 of the world’s top junior golfers to Florida, April 9-12
BRASELTON, GA —The American Junior Golf Association has finalized its largest field of the season, as 210 junior golfers are set to take on the Copperhead and North Courses at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club during the Mizuno Junior at Innisbrook, April 9-12.
The state of Florida will be well represented over Easter Weekend, as 85 Sunshine State natives are slated to compete in the event. In all, 27 states, Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Norway, Northern Ireland and South Africa will be represented.
A portion of the 210-player field will be reserved for players earning entry via the K12 Qualifier, which will be held Wednesday, April 8. K12 Qualifiers give juniors an opportunity to "play their way in" to coinciding AJGA Open tournaments or earn a Tournament Exemption or Performance Star for a future event. The K12 Qualifier Series offers opportunities for AJGA juniors at approximately 50 AJGA Open events.
The tournament Practice Round will take place Thursday, April 9, and the First and Second rounds will take place Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11. The Boys Division field will be cut to low 60 players and ties following the Second Round. The Final Round will take place Sunday, April 12, with tee times for both divisions running from 8 – 9:48 a.m. An Awards Ceremony will take place immediately after Sunday’s Final Round. Spectators are welcome and admission is free.
