Topic: Habitat Restoration in the Americas and Natural History of Panama, Guatemala, and Nicaragua The speaker has worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 5 years mainly in ecological reforestation and restoration from Washington’s Olympic National Forest to the El Dorado National forest in Nevada through Central America, the Caribbean, and Brazil. He will share his experiences of the diverse natural treasures of these incredible forests. Along the way, he has worked restoring our Pacific salmon habitat in the Pacific Northwest as well as experiencing the natural wonders of Mexico through Central and South America. This presentation will cover the conservation efforts in these countries and how the ecosystems in Florida relate to the ecosystems in the tropical countries of Latin America. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Friday, 4/3/ 7 a.m. - Long day trip: Clearwater Audubon trip to Cross Bar Ranch. Carpool to the ranch where a safari bus will transport birders to observe resident and migratory songbirds, wild turkeys, and raptors. This is an easy ¾ mile trail and ideal for beginning and advanced birders. There are two large ponds, a stream, and a nature center which houses turtles and injured birds. 3-12 years: $1.85, 13 years and up: $2.79, (plus 7% tax). There is a Bald Eagle nest as well as a family of Great Horned Owls. This is a 2 to 3 mile walk on sand trails.
