Garden Club of St. Petersburg Flower Show Slated

The Garden Club of St. Petersburg, in conjunction with the City of St. Petersburg’s Green Thumb Festival, will present its Annual Standard Flower Show on Saturday, April 25th, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday, April 26th, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Walter Fuller Community Park, 7891 – 26th Ave. St. Petersburg.

The theme of this year’s juried show is “Once Upon A Time … In A Garden.” The Design Division will create floral designs inspired by Nursery Rhymes and Childhood Songs. On display in the Horticulture Division will be prize winning plants including orchids, bromeliads, cacti and succulents. There will also be education, youth and artistic crafts exhibit. The flower show is judged by accredited NGC Flower Show Judges.

Also during the Festival will be the popular Grow and Share Clinic, where each attendee receives a free plant grown by members of the Garden Club of St. Petersburg. Crotons will be featured on Saturday at 1 p.m., presented by Ray Hernandez, VP of the Croton Society and on Sunday at 1 p.m., Carol Lucia will present a Floral Design demonstration. She is the Floral Design Studies Chairman for the State of Florida.

The Children’s Plant Fair will be open both days from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children attending will receive a free plant and t-shirt.
