Clearwater Marine Aquarium Breaks All-Time Daily Attendance RecordMore than 2,000 People Visit CMA in One DayCLEARWATER – Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) is pleased to announce it has set a new all-time attendance record. Tuesday, April 7, 2,053 people walked through the doors. The previous daily attendance record was set in April 2007 with 1,544 people. Attendance at CMA was up 34 percent in 2008. “We believe our surge in attendance is directly related to Winter the dolphin’s international and global awareness,” said Clearwater Marine Aquarium CEO David Yates. “The nature of the interactive CMA experience is also attracting more people than ever to our facility. Guests have the unique opportunity to touch dolphins and stingrays during their visit.” The Aquarium opened in 1972 under the name “Sea-Orama.” It was later named the Clearwater Marine Science Center, and then Clearwater Marine Aquarium in 1996. Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a Florida non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, dedicated to marine life rescue, rehabilitation and release, and environmental education.
