Traffic Fatality Reported in Largo

At approximately 8:34 p.m. (April 14th, 2009), officers from the Largo Police Department responded to a crash in the area of 17556 US Highway 19 North.

At this point in the investigation, it has been determined that a 27-year-old male from Perry, Florida was driving Northbound on US Highway 19. He was driving a blue Chevrolet Impala and according to witnesses was traveling at a high rate of speed.

A gold Lincoln sedan traveling Southbound on US Highway 19 made a left turn (Eastbound) onto Haines Bayshore Road. The Lincoln was occupied by a 79-year-old man (driver) and his 75-year-old wife (passenger).

As the Lincoln made the turn towards Haines Bayshore it was t-boned by the Chevrolet Impala.

As a result of the crash, the 75-year-old female passenger of the Lincoln expired on scene. The driver of the Lincoln and the driver of the Impala were both transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

At this time, further information is limited as the investigation is continuing. The identities of the vehicle's occupants cannot be released at this time.

Speed and alcohol are possible contributors to this crash.
