Girl Scouts of West Central Florida Seeking AlumnaeTAMPA – Nearly a year ago, Girl Scouts of West Central Florida (GSWCF) launched its alumnae association, inviting all Girl Scout alumnae, regardless of where they were Girl Scouts, to reconnect to the organization, and to each other. More than 600 alumnae are currently registered in the GSWCF Alumnae Association. Since Girl Scouts’ inception in 1912, more than 50 million American women enjoyed Girl Scouting during their childhood, and more than 53 percent of all women business owners are Girl Scout alumnae. As Girl Scout alumnae, these women know firsthand how transforming the Girl Scout program can be in girls’ lives. GSWCF is currently seeking for former staff, board members, volunteers – both men and women – and Girl Scouts to connect with current Girl Scouts. Alumnae can help strengthen GSWCF by sharing experiences, commitment, time, talent and special support, all while helping build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Members of the alumnae association are invited to mentor a girl, serve on a task group or committee, make a donation, conduct an activity in an area of expertise, or just stay in touch! The first GSWCF Alumnae Association event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, at the St. Petersburg Museum of History (335 Second Ave., NE, St. Petersburg). The event will feature an opportunity to view “A Look Back At Our History,” the council’s first archive exhibit, which is being generously hosted by the museum. All Girl Scout alumnae are invited to attend; please RSVP: cklich@gswcf.org or (800) 881-4475, ext.1792. GSWCF is preparing for the upcoming 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting in 2012, and hopes to engage alumnae in planning the festivities for the national celebration, as well as the Tampa Bay area’s 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting in 2013.
