Pinellas County Man Pleads Guilty to Possessing, Distributing Child Pornography

TALLAHASSEE – Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced that a Pinellas County man has pleaded guilty to possessing and distributing child pornography. Michael R. Dube, 52, faces five years in prison when he is sentenced later this month and will have to register with the state as a sex offender upon his release. Dube was arrested in January by the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit with assistance from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and the police departments of St. Petersburg, New Port Richey, Bradenton and Largo.

CyberCrime investigators learned of Dube while conducting an investigation into distribution of images of child pornography. Law enforcement officers executed a search at Dube’s Clearwater residence, where they found images of child pornography which had been distributed. Dube admitted to both possessing and distributing the images.

Dube pleaded guilty to three counts of transmission of child pornography and two counts of possession. In addition to his prison sentence, he must serve five years of sex offender probation. His probation will prohibit him from having contact with children under 18 years old, using the internet or a computer, and other restrictions. He was prosecuted by attorneys in the Attorney General’s CyberCrime Unit.
