Growing Vegetables is a Learning Experience for 4-H Youngsters

Mika Schulz, left, waters the silver queen corn he planted along with tomatoes, squash, onions and carrots at the 4-H Ochs Vegetable Garden in Largo not long ago. His mom, Cheryl Schulz, at back, helps tend the garden on a recent Saturday morning. Gardening plots are available to members of 4-H interested in learning how to grow their own vegetables. 4-H, which is a "learn by doing" educational program for children ages 5-18, promotes positive values, social responsibility and lifelong learning. To obtain more information, you may call 4-H youth development agent Jean Rogalsky at 582-2597.
