Spring Opening Celebration to be Held at Highland Family Aquatic CenterLARGO - The Aquatics Division of the City of Largo Recreation, Parks and Arts Department invites the public to its Spring Opening of the Highland Family Aquatic Center located at 400 Highland Avenue across from Largo City Hall. The two-day celebration is the first weekend of the season, May 9 (12–4 p.m.) and May 10 (12-4 p.m.). The Spring Opening is a way to celebrate with family and friends the beginning of their summer swim season. Groups of 10 can participate at friends and family discount rate of $12 resident, $18 non-resident and $23 guest. To receive the resident and non-resident pricing, one Largo Recreation Card must be shown for the group. Individual pricing is also available. Chick-fil-A Largo will be providing free chicken sandwiches on Saturday and staff will be grilling free hot dogs throughout the celebration on both days. On Sunday, in honor of Mothers Day, the first 50 mothers will receive a free car wash certificate from Express Car Wash. Splashes Snack Bar will also be open with refreshments, candy, snacks and ice cream available at family friendly prices. Highland Family Aquatic Center consists of two swimming pools including an activity area with children's slides, sprays, zero depth entry, play features and water basketball. The other pool includes two tower slides, corkscrew and speed slides, and water volleyball. To ride the tower slides one must be a minimum of 48 inches tall. Also available are shade structures, deck and chaise lounge chairs, bath houses and a family dressing area. Only Coast Guard approved flotation devices are allowed for use in Largo municipal pools. Check for this information on the tag of your device. Life jackets will be available for those needing assistance in the activity pool area. No food, drinks, or coolers will be allowed inside the facility and smoking is only allowed at the outside designated smoking area.
