City Capitulates in Sand Key Zoning IssueBy Carl Wagenfohr CLEARWATER - The city is preparing to throw in the towel on its appeal of a court order requiring Tourist zoning on the Shoppes at Sand Key property. In a memo to City Attorney Pam Akin dated May 5th, Assistant City Attorney Leslie Dougall-Sides wrote, "In my opinion there is no applicable ground for further appeal of this denial." An agenda item approving Tourist zoning for the parcel is being prepared for a future City Council meeting. "The agenda item would simply state that it is a remand for approval of Ordinance No. 7909-08 per Circuit Court Order; only a vote, no quasi-judicial hearing or public comment opportunity, need be conducted," Dougall-Sides wrote. |
