Island Estates Woman’s Club Installs New Officers and Presents Scholarship

CLEARWATER – At the May 19th meeting of the IEWC held at the Clearwater Yacht Club on Clearwater Beach, Peggy Gibson installed 2009-10 new officers, Hilda Trew, parliamentarian; Barbara Blakely, treasurer; Beverly Kennedy, first vice president; Joan Landreth, second vice president; Betty Elsesser, president: Muriel Mangas, recording secretary, Peggy Gibson, corresponding secretary; Dee Bucklew historian and publicity. In addition, the 2009 scholarship winner is Nicole Barber, an outstanding student from Clearwater High School. The scholarship was in the amount of $2,500. Nicole will be pursuing the first two years of her college education at St. Petersburg College before continuing on to another university. Her mother, Nora Segura, was also a guest at the luncheon with her.

Vivian Smith, of Keller Williams Gulfside Realty, passed out Vial of Life tubes to the members. The Vial of Life is a plastic tube that contains a medical history along with personal information that emergency services personnel can easily find in the event of an emergency. The club is in recess until fall, with its first meeting scheduled for September 15th. The club has a lot of fun activities for next season.
