CLEARWATER - Members and guests of Eta Sigma Eta alumnae chapter of Alpha Chi Omega of Upper Pinellas gathered at Alfano's not long ago for the chapter's 50th Anniversary Celebration. Three of the original 19 charter members were in attendance and were honored at the event. Sue Carlson, Renatta Cochran and Carol Morrow each received a bouquet of red carnations. Another highlight was presentation of a 50-year pin to Judy Clemens, who was initiated as a member of Alpha Chi's Beta Phi chapter when she was a student at Bowling Green State University in 1959. Spouses were invited to attend the dinner, which featured table decorations of red carnations (sorority flower) along with lyres and pearls (sorority pin). Longtime member Ginger Andren donated her floral arranging talents for the occasion. Special guests of honor were Alpha Chi Omega province alumnae chairman Sylvia Foster and her husband, George, of Tampa. Those attending enjoyed viewing the various scrapbooks compiled over the years. The chapter also recently elected new officers for the coming year. They are Doris LaFlam and Jennifer Hitchcock, co-presidents; Mary Beth Toland, 1st vice president and historian; Kristyn Wadsworth, 2nd vice president; Renatta Cochran, secretary and parliamentarian; Cynthia Lawrence, treasurer; Helen Henry, chaplain; Virginia Jones, Lyre editor; Gloria Hollingsworth, Panhellenic delegate; and Carol Morrow, alternate Panhellenic delegate. Alpha Chi Omega is one of 18 national sororities affiliated with Clearwater Alumnae Panhellenic.
