Morton Plant Mease Nursing Leader Recognized for Accomplishments

CLEARWATER -- Lisa Johnson, RN, MS, MSN, NEA-BC, vice president of patient services at Morton Plant Mease Health Care, has been awarded the Gannett Healthcare Group and Nursing Spectrum's 2009 Outstanding Achievement Award.

Johnson is responsible for nursing services at all four Morton Plant Mease Health Care hospitals, including Morton Plant Hospital, Mease Countryside Hospital, Mease Dunedin Hospital, and Morton Plant North Bay Hospital. "This award publicly recognizes Lisa's many accomplishments, including the National Magnet designation for Nursing Care. We are fortunate to have her on our team," says Glenn Waters, president, Morton Plant Mease Health Care.

This award recognizes the extraordinary contributions nurses make to their patients, each other, and the profession.

According to Nursing Spectrum, Johnson was recognized for:

  • All four Morton Plant Mease hospitals received the gold standard of nursing excellence award from the American Nurses Credentialing Center twice. To be named as a Magnet facility, a hospital must complete a comprehensive process that evaluates patient care, working environment, interdisciplinary relationships and processes of the entire organization.
  • Support of Clinical Nurse Leader, a new role in nursing care being implemented across the country.
  • Support of Earn As You Learn program, which helps nursing students with education expenses while providing employment .
  • Introduction of stress initiatives for nurses, including the S.M.I.L.E. program, which provides hospital staff with free stress relief services such as massages, aromatherapy, visual and audio relaxation.
