Recs and ReadsBy Anne McKay Garris"Summertime, and the living is easy...." goes the old song. At least, it used to be when all that concerned us were that crops were in the ground and not yet ready for harvest. If it isn't easy these days, maybe we should find a way to, once again, relax and enjoy the lazy days of summer. We could start by setting aside time each day to wander down the Clearwater Beach Aquatic Facility and taking a dip in the cool, clear waters of the pool. Call a friend. It's much healthier to say, "Join me for a dip," than, "Let's have lunch." Even better, you could have it both ways with, "I'll pack a bowl of fruit, you bring the yogurt, and we'll dine poolside." My favorite doctor had a sign in his office. "Don't take life too seriously," it said. "You'll never get out of it alive anyway." So, set aside all those serious things like chasing dust and rechecking to see if your stock values are coming back up yet, and get away to the Beach Library. You might not be able to go on a trip this summer, but the books at the library will take you on many a nice journey as you enjoy the panoramic view, and the comfort of a big armed chair at our Beach Library. You can even take a stint of game playing on the computers at the library. Have you tried "Spider?" Be careful, it's addictive, but oh my, what fun. Hopefully, in the next few weeks we will also have an expanded program for virtual tennis, golf, bowling and boxing. Also, we are working to get computer classes, Greek dancing and ballroom dancing. Happy summertime. Never go outside for long without something cold to drink on hand. It's hot out there!
