Sidewalks in Largo - e-mail sentI am a mother of four small children. I have attended a Neighborhood compatibility meeting on development of 500 3rd. St. N.W. At this meeting my neighbors and I had some specific concerns, one being the increase in large truck traffic at the new fleet maintenance facility. Everyone who was able to attend expressed concern with the children's safety as there are no sidewalks on the east side of 3rd St. We also had some concern about the condition of 5th Ave N.W. to which we were told there are no specific plans to improve this road at the time. I really don't think anyone even looked. This road is too narrow for large trucks to pass another vehicle (ask your garbage truck drivers) in part due to brush (large cactus and palm) in the easement and also it just wasn't designed to handle that kind of traffic. There are also NO sidewalks on that stretch of 5th Ave. This makes it very dangerous for pedestrians walking on this already narrow road. One suggestion we proposed was to change the address to 4th St. N.W. to relieve our side streets the major part of the business traffic as 4th Ave. N.W. to 8th St. was much more equipped for this. Understanding that the city is not willing to force the property owner to change their address I feel the citizens' concerns should be looked at more seriously some improvements need to be made before construction starts. Please take the time to drive by and see what I am talking about. This is a big business in our small neighborhood and deserves your attention. - Carolyn Warf
