Kiwanis Sprayground to Open

DUNEDIN - On July 2nd at 10 a.m., the Dunedin Parks & Recreation Department will be opening the fun-filled Kiwanis Sprayground! This interactive children's water playground, open daily from 9 a.m. to sunset, is filled with several water features to "beat the summer heat." The colorful, action-packed features; spray, gush, dump and pour water from a variety of whimsical devices. Kids can dodge a crocodile that shoots water out of its mouth; circle the tumble buckets and dance in and out of the mushroom water shower cascading at the end of the park. The main attractions are "Nessie," Dunedin's own version of the Loch Ness Monster, with multiple sprays and an aqua run slide in the middle of the park.

The Kiwanis Sprayground has over 3,000 sq. ft. of play area and is ADA accessible. The sprayground has a non-slip surface, no standing water and includes a fully automatic system of spray and streaming water features with a re-circulating water system. The deck perimeter has shade structures and spectator benches. Parental supervision is required. The facility also has a lightning detection system with automatic water shut off and security cameras.

Kiwanis Sprayground is located in Highlander Park at 1937 Ed Eckert Drive off Michigan Boulevard. The facility is at the west end of the park adjacent to the Highlander Pool, tennis court facilities, ball fields and Fisher playground.
