
Business and Professional Women to Meet"Gender Equity in the Correctional System," will be the topic during the Business and Professional Women (BPW) meeting on Thursday, August 6, at Gratzzi's restaurant in Baywalk, 199 2nd Avenue North in St. Petersburg. Networking will be at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting begins at noon. Dawn K. Cecil, PhD, Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of Criminology at the University of South Florida. will be the speaker. Cecil received a PhD in Criminology from the University of Maryland and has been active in criminology research. She will discuss incarcerated women and how their experiences in prison affect them. Her focus is the portrayals of women in prison in the media and mothers in jail. BPW St. Pete Pinellas is the local chapter of Business and Professional Women/USA. Founded in 1919, the organization is multigenerational and nonpartisan.
