
US Coast Guard Birthday Celebration Continues with the Chamber Softball Challenge August 15thCelebrate the Coast Guard's birthday by giving the gift of food. The United States Coast Guard's 219th birthday celebration continues with a softball challenge against the US Coast Guard and Clearwater's young professionals. Following softball the Clearwater Threshers take on the Tampa Yankees; proceeds from ticket sales benefit the RCS Food Bank in an effort to STOP hometown hunger. Attendees are asked to bring canned food to the game. Emerge Tampa Bay, the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce young professionals group, is taking on the United States Coast Guard in a softball challenge. The 219th birthday celebration of the US Coast Guard continues with the Chamber Softball Challenge 4 p.m., Saturday, August 15, at Bright House Field-Hwy 19 and Drew Street in Clearwater. Come cheer on your US Coast Guard and Clearwater's bright young professionals. Following the softball game the Clearwater Threshers take on the Tampa Yankees at 6:30 p.m. To help celebrate the Coast Guard birthday, Emerge Tampa Bay is kicking of a food drive to benefit the RCS Food Bank. All attendees of the game are asked to join in the birthday celebration and bring a gift of canned food. In addition, a percentage of the ticket sales will be donated to RCS to help STOP Hometown Hunger. The ticket price is $15 per person which includes all you can eat and drink from 5 to 8 p.m. The celebration culminates with a firework display after the game-fun for the whole family. Free food includes: hot dogs, hamburgers/cheeseburgers, peanuts, popcorn, chips, ice cream sandwiches, soft drinks and bottled water. Plus...16oz draft beers for $2.
