
Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art Offers Free Docent Tours on SundaysTARPON SPRINGS - The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art at St. Petersburg College offers complementary docent tours every Sunday at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Tours include the special exhibitions of Allen Leepa (1919-2009) A Life in Paint and the SPC Visual Artists Faculty Exhibition. Both exhibitions are on view through Aug. 30, 2009. Tours also include the artworks in the permanent and interactive galleries. Allen Leepa (1919-2009) A Life in Paint is a seventy-year retrospective which includes paintings, prints, a short video, and a reconstruction of Leepa's last studio. The St. Petersburg College Visual Arts Faculty Exhibition showcases artworks in the fields of drawing, painting, collage, ceramics and photography. The permanent galleries, Artistic Journeys, chronicle the 20th century through the works of Abraham Rattner, Esther Gentle, Allen Leepa and their contemporaries. Rattner was an internationally known figurative expressionist who spent many years in Paris and New York. His work is featured in museums around the world including the Museum of Modern Art and the Vatican. The interactive gallery, The Challenge of Modern Art, is the only one of its kind on the west coast of Florida and showcases the only full scale replica of Pablo Picasso's Guernica. The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art is located just west of U.S. Highway 19 at 600 Klosterman Road, on the Tarpon Springs Campus of St. Petersburg College. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, with extended hours until 9 p.m. on Thursday. Sunday hours are from 1-5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and free to children and students with ID. Sunday admission is free and docent tours are offered at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. The Museum is closed on Mondays and major holidays. Isabelle's Museum Store is open during regular business hours.
