Rotary Club of Clearwater Talks TurkeyWednesday, August 5th, marked a very special day for the Rotary Club of Clearwater. Mrs. Gretchen Pingley, Rotarian Team Leader for the Group Study Exchange (GSE) Team spoke to the club about the month long visit to Istanbul, Turkey this spring. The Group Study Exchange Team is a wonderful opportunity for individuals, aged 25-40 years who are not Rotary members to travel and visit other countries and cultures. This year, the Rotary Club of Clearwater sent four team members to Turkey. While there, the team spoke to 17 rotary clubs and visited government officials and other well-known tourist destination spots in Turkey. Team members stayed with rotary families as part of the exchange program. Although all team members were from the education field this year, typically team members are from all different professions. There is no charge to participate in the Group Study Exchange program. Each participant is hosted by a Rotarian family in the country being visited. This is an opportunity to share the rotary motto "service above self" and learn about other cultures and customs in the world.
