Recs and Reads

By Anne McKay Garris

Dancing and reading and writing, oh my! That's what we have for you at the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center and Library. And more, much more.

There's computer classes, for instance. On Tuesday, August 25, the computer class will cover using a digital camera and flatbed scanner. You need to register for this one, so call 462-6138 and let them know you want to be there. The cost is $20 if you already have your Recreation Card. The class is small and the instructor diligent.

Then, on Thursday, you can dance to your heart's content -- Greek or ballroom, with instructor Socrates Charos there to teach you how. Dance time is from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. and the cost is $15 with card. Dancing to Greek music will lift your spirits, encourage your heart beat and make you glad to be alive. You might want to gather up a group and all go.

Then there's Wednesday afternoon writing. The Beach Library Writer's Group meets on the first and third Wednesday of the month. Most of us are beginning writers and having fun sharing our efforts with other writers. New members are welcome.

For the rest of you there's Internet and computers available, videos and reference books, along with a delightful place to rest a while and read a good book. And one of the best work-out gyms in Clearwater.

Why not treat yourself to an end-of-the-summer adventure.
