Forward Ogi Perucica launches a spectacular shot that resulted in USF's third goal. TAMPA - The University of South Florida Men's Soccer team began their preseason with an effort worthy of their number 11 ranking in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll, a 4-1 win over cross town rival University of Tampa in the fifth annual Rowdies Cup game. Playing three 30 minute periods instead of two 45 minute halves, both teams came out in the first period trying to feel each other out and falling more into a defensive style of play. It wasn't until the second period that USF would strike first when Francisco Aristeguieta fed the ball to Felipe Libreros who would put the Bulls on top at the 35:40 mark of the game. Tampa would finally get on the board at 52:34 when Paschal Milien connected on a penalty kick past USF goalkeeper Jeff Attinella for the Spartans only goal of the contest. The Bulls would open the game up in the third period scoring just 1:06 into the final stanza on a goal by Jorge Mora off a pass from Alessandro Bianchi. USF would then just score under seven later on a circus shot by Ogi Perucica off a pass from Zak Boggs at 67:53. Boggs would then get his name in the goals column closing out the Bulls scoring on the night off an assist from Shawn Chin at 76:58. USF will close out their preseason slate on Aug. 27, at home, against Stetson at 7:30 p.m. and will open the regular season portion of their home schedule on Sept. 1 at 7:30 p.m. against UCF. Adult individual match tickets are $6, while youth and senior citizen admission is $3. All groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $2.50 per ticket. The defending BIG EAST Champions will host 10 matches at the USF Soccer Stadium, including dates with BIG EAST rivals St. John's and Notre Dame. Season ticket prices for the 2009 season are $40 for adults and $20 for youths and senior citizens, which can be purchased through 1-800-GoBulls.
