Join the Fun at the Fun Fest

By Anne McKay Garris

The first Family Fun Fest, to be held at Clearwater Beach's Beach Walk, is planned for October 24 and 25. Proceeds will go to the Tampa Bay Harvest program, "working to end hunger in our community," and to the Clearwater Beach Association which promotes civic pride and neighborliness on Clearwater Beach.

The need for food in our community is at an all time high and the success of the Fun Fest will be a great help. Going to the Festival will be fun -- volunteering to help with it will be even more fun and a great way to help people who are in financial trouble at this time.

Volunteers are needed to be on the set up crew, check ID's and sell wrist bands for participants, sell tickets, serve beverages, help with security, answer questions of our visitors, place signs in the parking lots, direct visitors on the Jolley Trolleys which will shuttle people from parking lots to the Beach Walk, work on the clean up crew and write thank you notes.

The camaraderie of working with other people in a good cause is always an interesting and pleasant way to spend your time. Lots of volunteers are needed to make the event a success. Will you be one of them?

Read all about the Fun Fest and sign up to volunteer at www.FamilyFunFest.net or call Rich Gonzalez at 727-394-1012 to sign up by phone. While you're thinking about it, remember October is pleasant weather, the hot weather will be over by that time.
