PETA PSA Urges Residents to Unchain Their Dogs

PETA's "Friends Don't Chain Friends" PSA urges residents to unchain their dogs and bring them inside. A Tampa man was charged with cruelty to animals after authorities found one dog chained to a shed in the harsh summer sun without food or water and another with a chain embedded in his neck.

PETA wants to ensure that residents' companion animals are well cared for and brought indoors, not left outside in the elements.

It shouldn't happen to "man's best friend," but it does. Take a drive down many country roads and city streets, and you'll see them-dogs left to spend their entire lives in "solitary confinement," trapped at the end of a chain or in a small pen. We can't think of a crueler punishment for these social pack animals who want-and deserve-companionship, scratches behind the ears, walks around the block, and the opportunity to curl up at your feet at night.
